BEAVER FALLS, Pa.-- The newest semi-pro hockey team in Pittsburgh continues to garner interest from local fans and residents alike. As the team approaches the halfway mark of their inaugural season, they continue to grow the sport of hockey in Beaver County.

The Pittsburgh River Monsters, a semi-pro ice hockey team, play their home games at Brady's Run Ice Arena in Beaver Falls, PA. They are members of the newly formed Union Hockey League

Brady's Run Ice Arena, with an arena able to accommodate 750, provides an intimate atmosphere with a unique experience for patrons.  During games, the venue carries Official River Monsters Apparel, food and snacks, and cold beer courtesy of local sports tavern, Zookys.

The River Monsters consistently have giveaways and intermission games to boost fan experience, while also supporting local businesses and charities as well.

River Monster games are typically high-scoring, physical, and fun to watch for spectators. Fights and hard hits are felt by fans, being only a few feet from the action. "It's intense. I haven't played competitive hockey since the 2018-19 season, so coming out in front of a big crowd is very exciting," said C Kurt Schmidt. "It really helps guys elevate their game because you want to give the fans a good show."

Unlike other major sports teams, immediately after each game, players can be found signing autographs, taking pictures, and interacting with fans of all ages. "It feels awesome, we are all hometown guys on this team. So, lots of our family and friends are at every home game," said Schmidt. "Giving out sticks and signing autographs I think that means the town and community really support us,"

The River Monsters next home game is Saturday, March 2, against the Soo Nordiques. Tickets are on sale now on Eventbrite.com. Tickets are also available at the door, cash only.
