Red-Hot River Monsters Travel to Toledo Saturday

  By Michael Deemer / Pittsburgh River Monsters TOLEDO, Oh.--  The Pittsburgh River Monsters have scored in bunches in the last two games.  Last weekend, Pittsburgh put an eight-spot on the scoresheet over the Soo Nordiques. Two weeks ago, the River Monsters demolished the Toledo Mobsters 6-1. The River Monsters will attempt to take care of business once again against the same Mobsters team they defeated a fortnight ago.  The key to the team's recent success has been a lineup shift. Multiple lines were moved around to balance each forward and defensive matchup, which was working. "[We've been] changing the lineup here and there," Jordan Huffman said. "We [as a line] played together at the beginning of the year, and then we got taken off a line, but tonight we looked really good out there." "It'll be good to have one good line, but if we can even them all out, like tonight, and put a different combination out, it might work out like tonight." Hu

Six-Goal Second Period Fuels Pittsburgh over Nordiques

  By Michael Deemer / Pittsburgh River Monsters BEAVER FALLS, Pa.--  With a 6-1 win last week against the Mobsters, Pittsburgh looked to replicate that dominating performance from last week. They did exactly that.  The River Monsters dominated the Soo Nordiques 8-2. Pittsburgh held a significant shot advantage in the first period, none reaching the back of the net. A switch was turned during the intermission as the hometown team lit the lamp six times in the middle frame.  Jordan Huffman had two goals in the contest, while Joe DiTullio had a goal and two assists in the second-period six-goal barrage. Ben Cunnigham and Kynan Tarnowski also had two assists in the period.  The River Monsters had a whopping 49 shots on net Saturday, an essential piece to the recent success.  "That was just part wearing them down," DiTullio said.
